Q:  Can we buy a marriage license outside of the province of Ontario?
A:  No.  You must buy your marriage license from any City Hall in Ontario.  Most City Halls are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.  A marriage license bought in the U.S. is not valid in Ontario.

Q:  Do you perform same sex weddings?
A:   Due to our Christian beliefs, we do not perform same sex marriages.

Q:  If I get married in Canada, is it legal in the United States, U.K, or any other country?
A:  Your marriage in Ontario is legal in the U.S., U.K., Japan, and any other country in the world.

Q:  What kind of ID do I need when buying the marriage license?
A:  You need 2 forms of ID.  Your birth certificate needs to be one.  Any other form of picture ID would be another.  This may vary from city to city in Ontario, but in Niagara Falls Ontario, you need your birth certificate.  A credit card is not considered as ID.  If you have a passport, that is just as good as a birth certificate.

Q:  Are you a wedding planer?
A:  No.  Our main service is to perform the wedding ceremony, although we can put you in touch with photographers, musicians, flower shops, and other people that you may need for your wedding.  We can also put you in contact with someone who can plan all aspects of your wedding.

Q:  Do you have wedding packages that include hotel accommodations?
A:  Yes, see our web page concerning The Clarion Inn.

Q:  How long should we book ahead?
A:  If you would like your wedding in the summer on a Saturday you should begin to think about setting the date in late winter or early spring.  Saturdays get booked up very quickly, especially Saturdays in June. Weekdays are not so busy.

Q:  Do you need witnesses, and if so how many?
A:  You need two witnesses. If you do not have witnesses, we can provide them.   Gary's wife Linda will be a witness for free, and we can provide the second for $20.00.

Q:  Do you need a medical to buy a license in Ontario?
N:  No, you do not need any medical to buy your license.

Q:  Is there any waiting period once you buy the license?
A:  No.  There is no waiting period. You buy the license and can get married right away.

Q:  How long is the license good for?
A:  Once you purchase the license, you have three months to use it.

Q:  How do we book a date and time?
A:  You can email us and Steve (Gary's brother) will return your email, asking such questions as; Where do you live?  Have you been married before?  When were you thinking of being married?  Once we have some preliminary questions answered then he will ask for your phone number so Gary can call you to answer more of your questions and confirm the arrangements.  If you like, you can email your phone number with your original email and Gary can call you anywhere in North America.

Q:  Is a renewal of marriage a legal ceremony?
A:  No, it is not a legal ceremony.  You do not need a license.

Q:  Can we get married in the park right beside the Falls.
A:  No.  The city will not allow weddings in the park by the Falls.  The closest place that you can have a wedding is at the Oakes Garden Theatre.  The Falls can be seen in the background.  You must reserve a place at the Oakes Gadern  through the Niagara Parks office at 1-877-642-7275 .

Q:  Is the weather suitable for outdoor wedding during the winter months.
A:  No.  We do not live in a southern or coastal region.  The temperature is too cold for an outdoor wedding.

Q:  Do you perform wedding ceremonies without a marriage license.
A:  No.  We only perform wedding ceremonies if you have a marriage license.

Q:  How do I actually obtain a marriage certificate, not the marriage license?
A:  First of all the marriage license (not marriage certificate) is purchased from any city hall in Ontario.  Once you are married you need to wait 3 months and then apply for your marriage certificate.  Usually when you buy your license, city hall will give you this application.  You send it to, The Registrar General, 189 Red River Rd.  Box 4600, Station P.  Thunder Bay, On.  P7B 9Z9.
You can also print the application by clicking the following file link.
